Community Paint Day was about people showing up. Neighbors, families, local artists, and volunteers spent the afternoon painting together, talking, laughing, and creating something that will become part of Camden for years to come.
As a documentary photographer, those are the moments I'm drawn to. The tiny paint covered hands. Someone stepping back to admire what they've made. The conversations happening across the table between people who may have never met before.
Photography has a way of slowing you down. It makes you notice the small interactions that tell the real story of a day like this.
It would be easy to photograph only the mural once it's finished, but what I'll remember are the people behind it. Every person who picked up a brush left a piece of themselves in the project, and that's what made this day worth documenting.
